Ezekiel 20:12

I also gave them my Sabbaths ¹  as a reminder of our relationship, ²  so that they would know that I, the Lord, sanctify them. ³ 

Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the LORD made them holy.

"Also I gave them My sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

And I gave them my Sabbath days of rest as a sign between them and me. It was to remind them that I, the LORD, had set them apart to be holy, making them my special people.

I also gave them my weekly holy rest days, my "Sabbaths," a kind of signpost erected between me and them to show them that I, GOD, am in the business of making them holy.

And further, I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, so that it might be clear that I, who make them holy, am the Lord.

Moreover I gave them my sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, so that they might know that I the LORD sanctify them.

"Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

I also gave them my Sabbaths ¹  as a reminder of our relationship, ²  so that they would know that I, the Lord, sanctify them. ³ 

¹ sn Ezekiel’s contemporary, Jeremiah, also stressed the importance of obedience to the Sabbath law (Jer 17).

² tn Heb “to become a sign between me and them.”

³ tn Or “set them apart.” The last phrase of verse 12 appears to be a citation of Exod 31:13.
