Psalms 30:6

In my self-confidence I said, “I will never be upended.” ¹ 

When I felt secure, I said, "I shall never be shaken."

Now as for me, I said in my prosperity, "I will never be moved."

When I was prosperous I said, "Nothing can stop me now!"

When things were going great I crowed, "I've got it made.

When things went well for me I said, I will never be moved.

As for me, I said in my prosperity, "I shall never be moved."

Now in my prosperity I said, "I shall never be moved."

In my self-confidence I said, “I will never be upended.” ¹ 

¹ sn In my self-confidence I said… Here the psalmist begins to fill in the background of the crisis referred to in the earlier verses. He had been arrogant and self-confident, so the Lord withdrew his protection and allowed trouble to invade his life (vv. 8-11).
