Psalms 44:10

You made us retreat ¹  from the enemy. Those who hate us take whatever they want from us. ² 

You made us retreat before the enemy, and our adversaries have plundered us.

You cause us to turn back from the adversary; And those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves.

You make us retreat from our enemies and allow them to plunder our land.

You made us turn tail and run; those who hate us have cleaned us out.

Because of this we are turned back by the attacker: those who have hate for us take our goods for themselves.

You made us turn back from the foe, and our enemies have gotten spoil.

You make us turn back from the enemy, And those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves.

You made us retreat ¹  from the enemy. Those who hate us take whatever they want from us. ²

² tn Heb “plunder for themselves.” The prepositional phrase לָמוֹ (lamo, “for themselves”) here has the nuance “at their will” or “as they please” (see Ps 80:6).
