Micah 2:2

They confiscate the fields they desire, and seize the houses they want. ¹  They defraud people of their homes, ²  and deprive people of the land they have inherited. ³ 

They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud a man of his home, a fellow-man of his inheritance.

They covet fields and then seize them, And houses, and take them away. They rob a man and his house, A man and his inheritance.

When you want a certain piece of land, you find a way to seize it. When you want someone’s house, you take it by fraud and violence. No one’s family or inheritance is safe with you around!

They covet fields and grab them, find homes and take them. They bully the neighbor and his family, see people only for what they can get out of them.

They have a desire for fields and take them by force; and for houses and take them away: they are cruel to a man and his family, even to a man and his heritage.

They covet fields, and seize them; houses, and take them away; they oppress householder and house, people and their inheritance.

They covet fields and take them by violence, Also houses, and seize them . So they oppress a man and his house, A man and his inheritance.

¹ tn Heb “they desire fields and rob [them], and houses and take [them] away.”

² tn Heb “and they oppress a man and his home.”

³ tn Heb “and a man and his inheritance.” The verb עָשַׁק (’ashaq, “to oppress”; “to wrong”) does double duty in the parallel structure and is understood by ellipsis in the second line.
