Genesis 43:33

They sat before him, arranged by order of birth, beginning with the firstborn and ending with the youngest. ¹  The men looked at each other in astonishment. ² 

The men had been seated before him in the order of their ages, from the firstborn to the youngest; and they looked at each other in astonishment.

Now they were seated before him, the firstborn according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth, and the men looked at one another in astonishment.

Joseph told each of his brothers where to sit, and to their amazement, he seated them in the order of their ages, from oldest to youngest.

The brothers were seated facing Joseph, arranged in order of their age, from the oldest to the youngest. They looked at one another wide-eyed, wondering what would happen next.

And they were all given their seats before him in order of birth, from the oldest to the youngest: so that they were looking at one another in wonder.

¹ tn Heb “the firstborn according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth.”

² sn The brothers’ astonishment indicates that Joseph arranged them in this way. They were astonished because there was no way, as far as they were concerned, that Joseph could have known the order of their birth.
