Luke 15:25

“Now his older son was in the field. As ¹  he came and approached the house, he heard music ²  and dancing.

"Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing.

"Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.

"Meanwhile, the older son was in the fields working. When he returned home, he heard music and dancing in the house,

"All this time his older son was out in the field. When the day's work was done he came in. As he approached the house, he heard the music and dancing.

Now the older son was in the field: and when he came near the house, the sounds of music and dancing came to his ears.

"Now his elder son was in the field; and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.

"Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

“Now his older son was in the field. As ¹  he came and approached the house, he heard music ²  and dancing.

¹ tn Grk “And as.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

² sn This would have been primarily instrumental music, but might include singing as well.
