Judges 21:2

So the people came to Bethel ¹  and sat there before God until evening, weeping loudly and uncontrollably. ² 

The people went to Bethel, where they sat before God until evening, raising their voices and weeping bitterly.

So the people came to Bethel and sat there before God until evening, and lifted up their voices and wept bitterly.

And the people went to Bethel and sat in the presence of God until evening, raising their voices and weeping bitterly.

Now, back in Bethel, the people sat in the presence of God until evening. They cried loudly; there was widespread lamentation.

And the people came to Beth-el, waiting there till evening before God, and gave themselves up to bitter weeping.

Then the people came to the house of God, and remained there before God till evening. They lifted up their voices and wept bitterly,

² tn Heb “and they lifted up their voice[s] and wept with great weeping.” Both the cognate accusative בְּכִי (bekhi, “weeping”) and the attributive adjective גָדוֹל (gadol, “great”) emphasize their degree of sorrow.
