Isaiah 28:20

For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap around oneself. ¹ 

The bed is too short to stretch out on, the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.

The bed is too short on which to stretch out, And the blanket is too small to wrap oneself in.

For you have no place of refuge––the bed you have made is too short to lie on. The blankets are too narrow to cover you.

There will be no place where you can rest, nothing to hide under.

For the bed is not long enough for a man to be stretched out on: and the cover is not wide enough for him to be covered with.

For the bed is too short to stretch oneself on it, and the covering too narrow to wrap oneself in it.

For the bed is too short to stretch out on , And the covering so narrow that one cannot wrap himself in it .

For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap around oneself. ¹ 

¹ sn The bed and blanket probably symbolize their false sense of security. A bed that is too short and a blanket that is too narrow may promise rest and protection from the cold, but in the end they are useless and disappointing. In the same way, their supposed treaty with death will prove useless and disappointing.
