Genesis 29:20

So Jacob worked for seven years to acquire Rachel. ¹  But they seemed like only a few days to him ²  because his love for her was so great. ³ 

So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.

So Jacob served seven years for Rachel and they seemed to him but a few days because of his love for her.

So Jacob spent the next seven years working to pay for Rachel. But his love for her was so strong that it seemed to him but a few days.

So Jacob worked seven years for Rachel. But it only seemed like a few days, he loved her so much.

And Jacob did seven years’ work for Rachel; and because of his love for her it seemed to him only a very little time.

So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.

So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her.

So Jacob worked for seven years to acquire Rachel. ¹  But they seemed like only a few days to him ²  because his love for her was so great. ³ 

¹ tn Heb “in exchange for Rachel.”

² sn But they seemed like only a few days to him. This need not mean that the time passed quickly. More likely it means that the price seemed insignificant when compared to what he was getting in the bargain.

³ tn Heb “because of his love for her.” The words “was so great” are supplied for stylistic reasons.
