Exodus 21:13

But if he does not do it with premeditation, ¹  but it happens by accident, ²  then I will appoint for you a place where he may flee.

However, if he does not do it intentionally, but God lets it happen, he is to flee to a place I will designate.

"But if he did not lie in wait for him, but God let him fall into his hand, then I will appoint you a place to which he may flee.

But if it is an accident and God allows it to happen, I will appoint a place where the slayer can run for safety.

But if there was no intent to kill--if it was an accident, an 'act of God'--I'll set aside a place to which the killer can flee for refuge.

But if he had no evil purpose against him, and God gave him into his hand, I will give you a place to which he may go in flight.

If it was not premeditated, but came about by an act of God, then I will appoint for you a place to which the killer may flee.

"However, if he did not lie in wait, but God delivered him into his hand, then I will appoint for you a place where he may flee.

² tn Heb “and God brought into his hand.” The death is unintended, its circumstances outside human control.
