Zephaniah 1:9

On that day I will punish all who leap over the threshold, ¹  who fill the house of their master ²  with wealth taken by violence and deceit. ³ 

On that day I will punish all who avoid stepping on the threshold, who fill the temple of their gods with violence and deceit.

"And I will punish on that day all who leap on the temple threshold, Who fill the house of their lord with violence and deceit.

Yes, I will punish those who participate in pagan worship ceremonies, and those who steal and kill to fill their masters’ homes with loot.

Who introduce pagan prayers and practices; And I'll punish all who import pagan superstitions that turn holy places into hellholes.

And in that day I will send punishment on all those who come jumping over the doorstep and make their master’s house full of violent behaviour and deceit.

On that day I will punish all who leap over the threshold, who fill their master’s house with violence and fraud.

In the same day I will punish All those who leap over the threshold, Who fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.

On that day I will punish all who leap over the threshold, ¹  who fill the house of their master ²  with wealth taken by violence and deceit. ³ 

¹ sn The point of the statement all who hop over the threshold is unclear. A ritual or superstition associated with the Philistine god Dagon may be in view (see 1 Sam 5:5).

² tn The referent of “their master” is unclear. The king or a pagan god may be in view.

³ tn Heb “who fill…with violence and deceit.” The expression “violence and deceit” refers metonymically to the wealth taken by oppressive measures.
