Psalms 105:16

He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply. ¹ 

He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food;

And He called for a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread.

He called for a famine on the land of Canaan, cutting off its food supply.

Then he called down a famine on the country, he broke every last blade of wheat.

And he took away all food from the land, so that the people were without bread.

When he summoned famine against the land, and broke every staff of bread,

Moreover He called for a famine in the land; He destroyed all the provision of bread.

He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply. ¹ 

¹ tn Heb “and every staff of food he broke.” The psalmist refers to the famine that occurred in Joseph’s time (see v. 17 and Gen 41:53-57).
