Leviticus 25:34

Moreover, ¹  the open field areas of their cities ²  must not be sold, because that is their perpetual possession.

But the pasture-land belonging to their towns must not be sold; it is their permanent possession.

‘But pasture fields of their cities shall not be sold, for that is their perpetual possession.

The strip of pastureland around each of the Levitical cities may never be sold. It is their permanent ancestral property.

The pastures belonging to their cities may not be sold; they are their permanent possession.

But the land on the outskirts of their towns may not be exchanged for money, for it is their property for ever.

But the open land around their cities may not be sold; for that is their possession for all time.

‘But the field of the common–land of their cities may not be sold, for it is their perpetual possession.

² sn This refers to the region of fields just outside and surrounding the city where cattle were kept and garden crops were grown (B. A. Levine, Leviticus [JPSTC], 177).
