Jeremiah 3:4

Even now you say to me, ‘You are my father! ¹  You have been my faithful companion ever since I was young.

Have you not just called to me: ‘My Father, my friend from my youth,

"Have you not just now called to Me, ‘My Father, You are the friend of my youth?

Yet you say to me, ‘Father, you have been my guide since the days of my youth.

Then you have the nerve to call out, 'My father! You took care of me when I was a child. Why not now?

Will you not, from this time, make your prayer to me, crying, My father, you are the friend of my early years?

Have you not just now called to me, "My Father, you are the friend of my youth—

Will you not from this time cry to Me, ‘My father, You are the guide of my youth?

Even now you say to me, ‘You are my father! ¹  You have been my faithful companion ever since I was young.

¹ tn Heb “Have you not just now called out to me, ‘[you are] my father!’?” The rhetorical question expects a positive answer.
