Genesis 39:10

Even though she continued to speak ¹  to Joseph day after day, he did not respond ²  to her invitation to have sex with her. ³ 

And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even to be with her.

As she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her to lie beside her or be with her.

She kept putting pressure on him day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible.

She pestered him day after day after day, but he stood his ground. He refused to go to bed with her.

And day after day she went on requesting Joseph to come to her and be her lover, but he would not give ear to her.

And although she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not consent to lie beside her or to be with her.

So it was, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her.

Even though she continued to speak ¹  to Joseph day after day, he did not respond ²  to her invitation to have sex with her. ³ 

¹ tn The verse begins with the temporal indicator, followed by the infinitive construct with the preposition כְּ (kÿ). This clause could therefore be taken as temporal.

² tn Heb “listen to.”

³ tn Heb “to lie beside her to be with her.” Here the expression “to lie beside” is a euphemism for sexual intercourse.
