Exodus 5:10

So the slave masters of the people and their foremen went to the Israelites and said, ¹  “Thus says Pharaoh: ‘I am not giving ²  you straw.

Then the slave drivers and the foremen went out and said to the people, "This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I will not give you any more straw.

So the taskmasters of the people and their foremen went out and spoke to the people, saying, "Thus says Pharaoh, ‘I am not going to give you any straw.

So the slave drivers and foremen informed the people: "Pharaoh has ordered us not to provide straw for you.

The slave-drivers and their underlings went out to the people with their new instructions. "Pharaoh's orders: No more straw provided.

And the overseers of the people and their responsible men went out and said to the people, Pharaoh says, I will give you no more dry stems.

So the taskmasters and the supervisors of the people went out and said to the people, "Thus says Pharaoh, ‘I will not give you straw.

And the taskmasters of the people and their officers went out and spoke to the people, saying, "Thus says Pharaoh: ‘I will not give you straw.

So the slave masters of the people and their foremen went to the Israelites and said, ¹  “Thus says Pharaoh: ‘I am not giving ²  you straw.

¹ tn Heb “went out and spoke to the people saying.” Here “the people” has been specified as “the Israelites” for clarity.

² tn The construction uses the negative particle combined with a subject suffix before the participle: אֵינֶנִּי נֹתֵן (’enenni noten, “there is not I – giving”).
