Zechariah 1:14

Turning to me, the messenger then said, “Cry out that the Lord who rules over all says, ‘I am very much moved ¹  for Jerusalem and for Zion.

Then the angel who was speaking to me said, "Proclaim this word: This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘I am very jealous for Jerusalem and Zion,

So the angel who was speaking with me said to me, "Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, "I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and Zion.

Then the angel said to me, "Shout this message for all to hear: ‘This is what the LORD Almighty says: My love for Jerusalem and Mount Zion is passionate and strong.

who then addressed me: "Tell them this. Tell them that GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies has spoken. This is GOD's Message: 'I care deeply for Jerusalem and Zion. I feel very possessive of them.

And the angel who was talking to me said to me, Let your voice be loud and say, These are the words of the Lord of armies: I am greatly moved about the fate of Jerusalem and of Zion.

So the angel who talked with me said to me, Proclaim this message: Thus says the LORD of hosts; I am very jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion.

So the angel who spoke with me said to me, "Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: "I am zealous for Jerusalem And for Zion with great zeal.

Turning to me, the messenger then said, “Cry out that the Lord who rules over all says, ‘I am very much moved ¹  for Jerusalem and for Zion.

¹ tn Heb “jealous for” (so KJV, ASV); NIV, NRSV “very jealous for”; CEV “very protective of.” The meaning is that Jerusalem/Zion is the special object of God’s grace and purposes. This results in his unusual protection of his people, a protection not accorded others with whom he does not have such a close relationship.
