Psalms 95:11

So I made a vow in my anger, ‘They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’” ¹ 

So I declared on oath in my anger, "They shall never enter my rest."

"Therefore I swore in My anger, Truly they shall not enter into My rest."

So in my anger I made a vow: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’"

Exasperated, I exploded, 'They'll never get where they're headed, never be able to sit down and rest.'"

And I made an oath in my wrath, that they might not come into my place of rest.

Therefore in my anger I swore, "They shall not enter my rest."

So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’"

So I made a vow in my anger, ‘They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’” ¹ 

¹ tn Heb “my resting place.” The promised land of Canaan is here viewed metaphorically as a place of rest for God’s people, who are compared to sheep (see v. 7).
