Matthew 7:12

In ¹  everything, treat others as you would want them ²  to treat you, ³  for this fulfills ⁴  the law and the prophets.

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

"Do for others what you would like them to do for you. This is a summary of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

"Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God's Law and Prophets and this is what you get.

All those things, then, which you would have men do to you, even so do you to them: because this is the law and the prophets.

³ sn Jesus’ teaching as reflected in the phrase treat others as you would want them to treat you, known generally as the Golden Rule, is not completely unique in the ancient world, but here it is stated in its most emphatic, selfless form.
