Matthew 22:29

Jesus ¹  answered them, “You are deceived, ²  because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.

Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

But Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Jesus replied, "Your problem is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.

Jesus answered, "You're off base on two counts: You don't know your Bibles, and you don't know how God works.

But Jesus said to them in answer, You are in error, not having knowledge of the Writings, or of the power of God.

Jesus answered them, "You are wrong, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God.

Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Jesus ¹  answered them, “You are deceived, ²  because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.

¹ tn Grk “And answering, Jesus said to them.” This is somewhat redundant and has been simplified in the translation.

² tn Or “mistaken” (cf. BDAG 822 s.v. πλανάω 2.c.γ).
