Leviticus 25:44

“‘As for your male and female slaves ¹  who may belong to you – you may buy male and female slaves from the nations all around you. ² 

"‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.

‘As for your male and female slaves whom you may have—you may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you.

"However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you.

"The male and female slaves which you have are to come from the surrounding nations; you are permitted to buy slaves from them.

But you may get servants as property from among the nations round about; from them you may take men-servants and women-servants.

As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves.

‘And as for your male and female slaves whom you may have––from the nations that are around you, from them you may buy male and female slaves.

“‘As for your male and female slaves ¹  who may belong to you – you may buy male and female slaves from the nations all around you. ² 

¹ tn Heb “And your male slave and your female slave.” Smr has these as plural terms, “slaves,” not singular.

² tn Heb “ from the nations which surround you, from them you shall buy male slave and female slave.”
