Leviticus 22:5

or a man who touches a swarming thing by which he becomes unclean, ¹  or touches a person ²  by which he becomes unclean, whatever that person’s impurity ³  –

or if he touches any crawling thing that makes him unclean, or any person who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be.

or if a man touches any teeming things by which he is made unclean, or any man by whom he is made unclean, whatever his uncleanness;

or by touching a creeping creature that is unclean, or by touching someone who is ceremonially unclean for any reason,

or is contaminated by touching a crawling creature, or touches a person who is contaminated for whatever reason

Or anyone touching any unclean thing which goes flat on the earth, or someone by whom he may be made unclean in any way whatever;

and whoever touches any swarming thing by which he may be made unclean or any human being by whom he may be made unclean—whatever his uncleanness may be—

‘or whoever touches any creeping thing by which he would be made unclean, or any person by whom he would become unclean, whatever his uncleanness may be––

or a man who touches a swarming thing by which he becomes unclean, ¹  or touches a person ²  by which he becomes unclean, whatever that person’s impurity ³  –

¹ tn Heb “which there shall be uncleanness to him.”

² tn The Hebrew term for “person” here is אָדָם (adam, “human being”), which could either a male or a female person.

³ tn Heb “to all his impurity.” The phrase refers to the impurity of the person whom the man touches to become unclean (see the previous clause). To clarify this, the translation uses “that person’s” rather than “his.”
