John 1:26

John answered them, ¹  “I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not recognize, ² 

"I baptise with water," John replied, "but among you stands one you do not know.

John answered them saying, "I baptize in water, but among you stands One whom you do not know.

John told them, "I baptize with water, but right here in the crowd is someone you do not know,

John answered, "I only baptize using water. A person you don't recognize has taken his stand in your midst.

John’s answer was: I give baptism with water; but there is one among you of whom you have no knowledge;

John answered them, "I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know,

¹ tn Grk “answered them, saying.” The participle λέγων (legwn) is redundant in contemporary English and has not been translated.
