Job 12:6

But ¹  the tents of robbers are peaceful, and those who provoke God are confident ²  – who carry their god in their hands. ³ 

The tents of marauders are undisturbed, and those who provoke God are secure—those who carry their god in their hands.

"The tents of the destroyers prosper, And those who provoke God are secure, Whom God brings into their power.

But even robbers are left in peace, and those who provoke God––and God has them in his power––live in safety!

Crooks reside safely in high-security houses, insolent blasphemers live in luxury; they've bought and paid for a god who'll protect them.

There is wealth in the tents of those who make destruction, and those by whom God is moved to wrath are safe; even those whose god is their strength.

The tents of robbers are at peace, and those who provoke God are secure, who bring their god in their hands.

The tents of robbers prosper, And those who provoke God are secure––In what God provides by His hand.

But ¹  the tents of robbers are peaceful, and those who provoke God are confident ²  – who carry their god in their hands. ³ 

¹ tn The verse gives the other side of the coin now, the fact that the wicked prosper.

² tn The plural is used to suggest the supreme degree of arrogant confidence (E. Dhorme, Job, 171).

³ sn The line is perhaps best understood as describing one who thinks he is invested with the power of God.
