Isaiah 16:1

Send rams as tribute to the ruler of the land, ¹  from Sela in the desert ²  to the hill of Daughter Zion.

Send lambs as tribute to the ruler of the land, from Sela, across the desert, to the mount of the Daughter of Zion.

Send the tribute lamb to the ruler of the land, From Sela by way of the wilderness to the mountain of the daughter of Zion.

Moab’s refugees at Sela send lambs to Jerusalem as a token of alliance with the king of Judah.

"Dispatch a gift of lambs," says Moab, "to the leaders in Jerusalem--Lambs from Sela sent across the desert to buy the goodwill of Jerusalem.

And they will send…to the mountain of the daughter of Zion.

¹ tc The Hebrew text reads literally, “Send [a plural imperatival form is used] a ram [to] the ruler of the land.” The term כַּר (kar, “ram”) should be emended to the plural כָּרִים (karim). The singular form in the text is probably the result of haplography; note that the next word begins with a mem (מ).

² tn The Hebrew text has “toward [across?] the desert.”
