Isaiah 13:12

I will make human beings more scarce than pure gold, and people more scarce ¹  than gold from Ophir.

I will make man scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir.

I will make mortal man scarcer than pure gold And mankind than the gold of Ophir.

Few will be left alive when I have finished my work. People will be as scarce as gold––more rare than the gold of Ophir.

Proud humanity will disappear from the earth. I'll make mortals rarer than hens' teeth.

I will make men so small in number, that a man will be harder to get than gold, even the best gold of Ophir.

I will make mortals more rare than fine gold, and humans than the gold of Ophir.

I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold, A man more than the golden wedge of Ophir.

I will make human beings more scarce than pure gold, and people more scarce ¹  than gold from Ophir.

¹ tn The verb is supplied in the translation from the first line. The verb in the first line (“I will make scarce”) does double duty in the parallel structure of the verse.
