Genesis 31:2

When Jacob saw the look on Laban’s face, he could tell his attitude toward him had changed. ¹ 

And Jacob noticed that Laban’s attitude towards him was not what it had been.

Jacob saw the attitude of Laban, and behold, it was not friendly toward him as formerly.

And Jacob began to notice a considerable cooling in Laban’s attitude toward him.

At the same time, Jacob noticed that Laban had changed toward him. He wasn't treating him the same.

And Jacob saw that Laban’s feeling for him was no longer what it had been before.

And Jacob saw that Laban did not regard him as favorably as he did before.

And Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and indeed it was not favorable toward him as before.

When Jacob saw the look on Laban’s face, he could tell his attitude toward him had changed. ¹ 

¹ tn Heb “and Jacob saw the face of Laban, and look, he was not with him as formerly.” Jacob knew from the expression on Laban’s face that his attitude toward him had changed – Jacob had become persona non grata.
