Genesis 20:8

Early in the morning ¹  Abimelech summoned ²  all his servants. When he told them about all these things, ³  they ⁴  were terrified.

Early the next morning Abimelech summoned all his officials, and when he told them all that had happened, they were very much afraid.

So Abimelech arose early in the morning and called all his servants and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were greatly frightened.

Abimelech got up early the next morning and hastily called a meeting of all his servants. When he told them what had happened, great fear swept through the crowd.

Abimelech was up first thing in the morning. He called all his house servants together and told them the whole story. They were shocked.

² tn The verb קָרָא (qara’) followed by the preposition לְ (lamed) means “to summon.”

³ tn Heb “And he spoke all these things in their ears.”

⁴ tn Heb “the men.” This has been replaced by the pronoun “they” in the translation for stylistic reasons.
