Psalms 38:13

But I am like a deaf man – I hear nothing; I am like a mute who cannot speak. ¹ 

I am like a deaf man, who cannot hear, like a mute, who cannot open his mouth;

But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute man who does not open his mouth.

But I am deaf to all their threats. I am silent before them as one who cannot speak.

But I'm deaf and mute to it all, ears shut, mouth shut.

But I kept my ears shut like a man without hearing; like a man without a voice, never opening his mouth.

But I am like the deaf, I do not hear; like the mute, who cannot speak.

But I, like a deaf man , do not hear; And I am like a mute who does not open his mouth.

¹ sn I am like a deaf man…like a mute. The psalmist is like a deaf mute; he is incapable of defending himself and is vulnerable to his enemies’ deception (see v. 14).
