Matthew 6:19

“Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth ¹  and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

"Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and steal.

"Don't hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or--worse!--stolen by burglars.

Make no store of wealth for yourselves on earth, where it may be turned to dust by worms and weather, and where thieves may come in by force and take it away.

¹ tn The term σής (shs) refers to moths in general. It is specifically the larvae of moths that destroy clothing by eating holes in it (L&N 4.49; BDAG 922 s.v.). See Jas 5:2, which mentions “moth-eaten” clothing.
