Matthew 26:22

They ¹  became greatly distressed ²  and each one began to say to him, “Surely not I, Lord?”

They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, "Surely not I, Lord?"

Being deeply grieved, they each one began to say to Him, "Surely not I, Lord?"

Greatly distressed, one by one they began to ask him, "I’m not the one, am I, Lord?"

They were stunned, and then began to ask, one after another, "It isn't me, is it, Master?"

And they were very said, and said to him, one by one, Is it I, Lord?

And they became greatly distressed and began to say to him one after another, "Surely not I, Lord?"

And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, "Lord, is it I?"

They ¹  became greatly distressed ²  and each one began to say to him, “Surely not I, Lord?”

¹ tn Here καί (kai) has not been translated.

² tn The participle λυπούμενοι (lupoumenoi) has been translated as a finite verb to make the sequence of events clear in English.
