Mark 6:49

When they saw him walking on the water ¹  they thought he was a ghost. They ²  cried out,

but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out,

But when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed that it was a ghost, and cried out;

but when they saw him walking on the water, they screamed in terror, thinking he was a ghost.

But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and screamed, scared out of their wits.

But they, when they saw him walking on the sea, took him for a spirit, and gave a loud cry:

But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out;

And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out;

When they saw him walking on the water ¹  they thought he was a ghost. They ²  cried out,

¹ tn Grk “on the sea,” “on the lake.” The translation “water” has been used here for stylistic reasons (cf. the same phrase in v. 48).

² tn Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.
