2 Chronicles 17:4

but instead sought the God of his ancestors ¹  and obeyed ²  his commands, unlike the Israelites. ³ 

but sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel.

but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did.

He sought his father’s God and obeyed his commands instead of following the practices of the kingdom of Israel.

he was a seeker and follower of the God of his father and was obedient to him; he wasn't like Israel.

But turning to the God of his father and keeping his laws, and not doing as Israel did.

but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the ways of Israel.

but sought the God of his father, and walked in His commandments and not according to the acts of Israel.

but instead sought the God of his ancestors ¹  and obeyed ²  his commands, unlike the Israelites. ³

² tn Heb “walked in.”

³ tn Heb “and not like the behavior of Israel.”
