1 Samuel 9:14

So they went up to the town. As they were heading for the middle of the town, Samuel was coming in their direction ¹  to go up to the high place.

They went up to the town, and as they were entering it, there was Samuel, coming towards them on his way up to the high place.

So they went up to the city. As they came into the city, behold, Samuel was coming out toward them to go up to the high place.

So they entered the town, and as they passed through the gates, Samuel was coming out toward them to climb the hill.

They continued their climb and entered the city. And then there he was--Samuel!--coming straight toward them on his way to the shrine!

So they went up to the town, and when they came inside the town, Samuel came face to face with them on his way to the high place.

So they went up to the town. As they were heading for the middle of the town, Samuel was coming in their direction ¹  to go up to the high place.

¹ tn Heb “to meet them.” This may indicate purpose on Samuel’s part. The next sentence indicates that the meeting was by design, not just an accident.
