1 Kings 13:12

Their father asked them, “Which road did he take?” His sons showed him ¹  the road the prophet ²  from Judah had taken.

Their father asked them, "Which way did he go?" And his sons showed him which road the man of God from Judah had taken.

Their father said to them, "Which way did he go?" Now his sons had seen the way which the man of God who came from Judah had gone.

The old prophet asked them, "Which way did he go?" So they told their father which road the man of God had taken.

Their father said, "Which way did he go?" His sons pointed out the road that the holy man from Judah had taken.

Then their father said to them, Which way did he go? Now his sons had seen which way the man of God who came from Judah had gone.

Their father said to them, "Which way did he go?" And his sons showed him the way that the man of God who came from Judah had gone.

And their father said to them, "Which way did he go?" For his sons had seen which way the man of God went who came from Judah.

Their father asked them, “Which road did he take?” His sons showed him ¹  the road the prophet ²  from Judah had taken.

¹ tn The Hebrew text has “and his sons saw” (וַיִּרְאוּ [vayyir’u], Qal from רָאָה [ra’ah]). In this case the verbal construction (vav consecutive + prefixed verbal form) would have to be understood as pluperfect, “his sons had seen.” Such uses of this construction are rare at best. Consequently many, following the lead of the ancient versions, prefer to emend the verbal form to a Hiphil with pronominal suffix (וַיַּרְאֻהוּ [vayyar’uhu], “and they showed him”).
