Proverbs 24:31

I saw ¹  that thorns had grown up all over it, the ground ²  was covered with weeds, and its stone wall was broken down.

thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins.

And behold, it was completely overgrown with thistles; Its surface was covered with nettles, And its stone wall was broken down.

I saw that it was overgrown with thorns. It was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down.

They were overgrown with weeds, thick with thistles, all the fences broken down.

And it was all full of thorns, and covered with waste plants, and its stone wall was broken down.

¹ tn The Hebrew term וְהִנֵּה (vÿhinneh, traditionally “and, lo” [KJV, ASV]) is a deictic particle that calls attention to what comes next. “And look” is too abrupt here; “I saw” calls attention to the field that was noticed.

² tn Heb “its face” (so KJV, ASV).
