Mark 7:36

Jesus ordered them not to tell anything. But as much as he ordered them not to do this, they proclaimed it all the more. ¹ 

Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it.

And He gave them orders not to tell anyone; but the more He ordered them, the more widely they continued to proclaim it.

Jesus told the crowd not to tell anyone, but the more he told them not to, the more they spread the news,

Jesus urged them to keep it quiet, but they talked it up all the more,

And he gave them orders not to give news of it to anyone; but the more he made this request, so much the more they made it public.

Then Jesus ordered them to tell no one; but the more he ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it.

¹ tn Grk “but as much as he ordered them, these rather so much more proclaimed.” Greek tends to omit direct objects when they are clear from the context, but these usually need to be supplied for the modern English reader. Here what Jesus ordered has been clarified (“ordered them not to do this”), and the pronoun “it” has been supplied after “proclaimed.”
