Luke 1:23

When his time of service was over, ¹  he went to his home.

When his time of service was completed, he returned home.

When the days of his priestly service were ended, he went back home.

He stayed at the Temple until his term of service was over, and then he returned home.

When the course of his priestly assignment was completed, he went back home.

And when the days of his work in the Temple were ended, he went back to his house.

When his time of service was ended, he went to his home.

And so it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house.

When his time of service was over, ¹  he went to his home.

¹ tn Grk “And it happened that as the days of his service were ended.” The introductory phrase ἐγένετο (egeneto, “it happened that”), common in Luke (69 times) and Acts (54 times), is redundant in contemporary English and has not been translated.
