Joshua 2:8

Now before the spies ¹  went to sleep, Rahab ²  went up ³  to the roof.

Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof

Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof,

Before the spies went to sleep that night, Rahab went up on the roof to talk with them.

Before the spies were down for the night, the woman came up to them on the roof

And before the men went to rest, she came up to them on the roof,

Before they went to sleep, she came up to them on the roof

Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof,

Now before the spies ¹  went to sleep, Rahab ²  went up ³  to the roof.

¹ tn Heb “they.”

² tn Heb “she”; the referent (Rahab) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

³ tn The Hebrew text adds, “to them.” This is somewhat redundant in English and has not been translated.
