Judges 8:11

Gideon went up the road of the nomads ¹  east of Nobah and Jogbehah and ambushed the surprised army. ² 

Gideon went up by the route of the nomads east of Nobah and Jogbehah and fell upon the unsuspecting army.

Gideon went up by the way of those who lived in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and attacked the camp when the camp was unsuspecting.

Gideon circled around by the caravan route east of Nobah and Jogbehah, taking the Midianite army by surprise.

Gideon went up the caravan trail east of Nobah and Jogbehah, found and attacked the undefended camp.

And Gideon went up by the way used by the people living in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and made an attack on the army when they had no thought of danger.

So Gideon went up by the caravan route east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and attacked the army; for the army was off its guard.

Then Gideon went up by the road of those who dwell in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah; and he attacked the army while the camp felt secure.

¹ tn Heb “the ones living in tents.”

² tn Heb “and attacked the army, while the army was secure.” The Hebrew term בֶטַח (vetakh, “secure”) probably means the army was undefended (see R. G. Boling, Judges [AB], 156), not suspecting an attack at that time and place.
