Psalms 82:6

I thought, ¹  ‘You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.’ ² 

"I said, ‘You are "gods"; you are all sons of the Most High.’

I said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High.

I say, ‘You are gods and children of the Most High.

"I commissioned you judges, each one of you, deputies of the High God,

I said, You are gods; all of you are the sons of the Most High:

I say, "You are gods, children of the Most High, all of you;

I said, "You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High.

I thought, ¹  ‘You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.’ ² 

¹ tn Heb “said.”

² sn Normally in the OT the title Most High belongs to the God of Israel, but in this context, where the mythological overtones are so strong, it probably refers to the Canaanite high god El (see v. 1, as well as Isa 14:13).
