Psalms 59:3

For look, they wait to ambush me; ¹  powerful men stalk ²  me, but not because I have rebelled or sinned, O Lord. ³ 

See how they lie in wait for me! Fierce men conspire against me for no offence or sin of mine, O LORD.

For behold, they have set an ambush for my life; Fierce men launch an attack against me, Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O LORD,

They have set an ambush for me. Fierce enemies are out there waiting, though I have done them no wrong, O LORD.

Desperadoes have ganged up on me, they're hiding in ambush for me. I did nothing to deserve this, GOD,

For see, they are watching in secret for my soul; the strong have come together against me? but not because of my sin, or my evil-doing, O Lord.

Even now they lie in wait for my life; the mighty stir up strife against me. For no transgression or sin of mine, O LORD,

For look, they lie in wait for my life; The mighty gather against me, Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O LORD.

For look, they wait to ambush me; ¹  powerful men stalk ²  me, but not because I have rebelled or sinned, O Lord. ³ 

¹ tn Heb “my life.”

² tn The Hebrew verb is from the root גּוּר (gur), which means “to challenge, attack” in Isa 54:15 and “to stalk” (with hostile intent) in Ps 56:8.

³ sn The point is that the psalmist’s enemies have no justifiable reason for attacking him. He has neither rebelled or sinned against the Lord.
