Balak again sent princes, ¹  more numerous and more distinguished than the first. ² 

Then Balak sent other princes, more numerous and more distinguished than the first.

Then Balak again sent leaders, more numerous and more distinguished than the former.

Then Balak tried again. This time he sent a larger number of even more distinguished officials than those he had sent the first time.

Balak sent another group of nobles, higher ranking and more distinguished.

So Balak sent more chiefs, greater in number and of higher position than the others.

Once again Balak sent officials, more numerous and more distinguished than these.

Then Balak again sent princes, more numerous and more honorable than they.

Balak again sent princes, ¹  more numerous and more distinguished than the first. ² 

¹ tn The construction is a verbal hendiadys. It uses the Hiphil preterite of the verb “to add” followed by the Qal infinitive “to send.” The infinitive becomes the main verb, and the preterite an adverb: “he added to send” means “he sent again.”
