Matthew 21:30

The father ¹  went to the other son and said the same thing. This boy answered, ²  ‘I will, sir,’ but did not go.

"Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go.

"The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go.

Then the father told the other son, ‘You go,’ and he said, ‘Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go.

"The father gave the same command to the second son. He answered, 'Sure, glad to.' But he never went.

And he came to the second and said the same. And he made answer and said, I go, sir: and went not.

The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, ‘I go, sir’; but he did not go.

"Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go , sir,’ but he did not go.

The father ¹  went to the other son and said the same thing. This boy answered, ²  ‘I will, sir,’ but did not go.

¹ tn “And he”; here δέ (de) has not been translated.

² tn Grk “And answering, he said.” This is somewhat redundant and has been simplified in the translation. Here δέ (de) has not been translated. Here the referent (“this boy”) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
