Jonah 2:10

Then the Lord commanded ¹  the fish and it disgorged Jonah on dry land.

And the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Then the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.

Then the LORD ordered the fish to spit up Jonah on the beach, and it did.

Then GOD spoke to the fish, and it vomited up Jonah on the seashore.

And at the Lord’s order, the fish sent Jonah out of its mouth on to the dry land.

Then the LORD spoke to the fish, and it spewed Jonah out upon the dry land.

So the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land .

Then the Lord commanded ¹  the fish and it disgorged Jonah on dry land.

¹ tn Heb “spoke to.” The fish functions as a literary foil to highlight Jonah’s hesitancy to obey God up to this point. In contrast to Jonah who immediately fled when God commanded him, the fish immediately obeyed.
