John 8:40

But now you are trying ¹  to kill me, a man who has told you ²  the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do this! ³ 

As it is, you are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things.

"But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do.

I told you the truth I heard from God, but you are trying to kill me. Abraham wouldn’t do a thing like that.

And yet here you are trying to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth he got straight from God! Abraham never did that sort of thing.

But now you have a desire to put me to death, a man who has said to you what is true, as I had it from God: Abraham did not do that.

but now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.

"But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.

But now you are trying ¹  to kill me, a man who has told you ²  the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do this! ³ 

¹ tn Grk “seeking.”

² tn Grk “has spoken to you.”

³ tn The Greek word order is emphatic: “This Abraham did not do.” The emphasis is indicated in the translation by an exclamation point.
