John 7:14

When the feast was half over, Jesus went up to the temple courts ¹  and began to teach. ² 

Not until halfway through the Feast did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach.

But when it was now the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and began to teach.

Then, midway through the festival, Jesus went up to the Temple and began to teach.

With the Feast already half over, Jesus showed up in the Temple, teaching.

Now in the middle of the feast Jesus went up to the Temple and was teaching.

About the middle of the festival Jesus went up into the temple and began to teach.

Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.

When the feast was half over, Jesus went up to the temple courts ¹  and began to teach. ² 

¹ tn Grk “to the temple.”

² tn Or “started teaching.” An ingressive sense for the imperfect verb (“began to teach” or “started teaching”) fits well here, since the context implies that Jesus did not start his teaching at the beginning of the festival, but began when it was about half over.
