Genesis 29:5

So he said to them, “Do you know Laban, the grandson ¹  of Nahor?” “We know him,” ²  they said.

He said to them, "Do you know Laban, Nahor’s grandson?" "Yes, we know him," they answered.

He said to them, "Do you know Laban the son of Nahor?" And they said, "We know him."

"Do you know a man there named Laban, the grandson of Nahor?" "Yes, we do," they replied.

Jacob asked, "Do you know Laban son of Nahor?" "We do."

And he said to them, Have you any knowledge of Laban, the son of Nahor? And they said, We have.

He said to them, "Do you know Laban son of Nahor?" They said, "We do."

Then he said to them, "Do you know Laban the son of Nahor?" And they said, "We know him."

So he said to them, “Do you know Laban, the grandson ¹  of Nahor?” “We know him,” ²  they said.

¹ tn Heb “son.”

² tn Heb “and they said, ‘We know.’” The word “him” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons. In the translation several introductory clauses throughout this section have been placed after the direct discourse they introduce for stylistic reasons as well.
