Genesis 15:8

But ¹  Abram ²  said, “O sovereign Lord, ³  by what ⁴  can I know that I am to possess it?”

But Abram said, "O Sovereign LORD, how can I know that I shall gain possession of it?"

He said, "O Lord GOD, how may I know that I will possess it?"

But Abram replied, "O Sovereign LORD, how can I be sure that you will give it to me?"

Abram said, "Master GOD, how am I to know this, that it will all be mine?"

And he said, O Lord God, how may I be certain that it will be mine?

But he said, "O Lord GOD, how am I to know that I shall possess it?"

And he said, "Lord GOD, how shall I know that I will inherit it?"

But ¹  Abram ²  said, “O sovereign Lord, ³  by what ⁴  can I know that I am to possess it?”

¹ tn Here the vav carries adversative force and is translated “but.”
