2 Samuel 22:41

You make my enemies retreat; ¹  I destroy those who hate me.

You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes.

"You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, And I destroyed those who hated me.

You made them turn and run; I have destroyed all who hated me.

You made my enemies turn tail, and I wiped out the haters.

By you their backs are turned in flight, so that my haters are cut off.

You made my enemies turn their backs to me, those who hated me, and I destroyed them.

You have also given me the necks of my enemies, So that I destroyed those who hated me.

¹ tn Heb “and [as for] my enemies, you give to me [the] back [or “neck” ].” The idiom “give [the] back” means “to cause [one] to turn the back and run away.” See Exod 23:27 and HALOT 888 s.v. II ערף.
